Irene and Robert – engagement photos at Bolton Abbey

It was really good fun meeting Irene and Robert at Bolton Abbey the other weekend. It was cold, it rained, but nothing would dampen the spirits of this wonderful couple.

Irene and Robert wanted to get some natural, fun, colourful pictures prior to their wedding in November. Although they’d known each other for a while by the time, Bolton Abbey was the location of their first date. What better place for some pictures of the two of them?

We took a leisurely stroll around the woods and grounds of Bolton Abbey, and wandered around the evocative ruins for a while. The abbey was founded in the 12th century and the ruins remain a magnificent sight.

The sun came out later in our visit, and we took a stroll up to the breathtaking Strid, where the river Wharfe forces its way through a narrow channel of rock amongst the woods.

I am really looking forward to Irene and Robert’s wedding in November, where Irene’s American family can come and see the wonders of Baildon, where I live! I hope the weather is better than last year though. I took this photo at about the same time last year. I suppose if we get snowed in, the local Saltaire Brewery ale will keep the party going!
